CHICAGO: FORMER ‘WILD HARE’ REGGAE BAR LOCATION FOR SALE

CHICAGO’S legendary former reggae bar, the “Wild Hare”, closed this summer and now its old location is up for sale.  The Robert Lurie family, who is the ex-partner of real estate billionaire Sam Zell, has hired Sperry Van Ness LLC to sell the space located at 3530 N. Clark St.

Many were surprised when it was announced that the bar would close, back in May of this year, leaving fond memories behind for many (including me).  The Wild Hare had incredible reggae band performances and was a lot of fun, so it is greatly missed.

The loss of historic Chicago spots is always sad…it seems like a piece of the city’s past is forgotten forever.

  1. So why couldn’t someone manage the bar, and keep the tradition going? That is like taking the cubs out of Chicago, or not having the White Sox team. I wish that I had the money to buy it, and keep it going. I have always wanted to own my own club. I guess I well keep that dream.
